It’s a new year, and I have a new website–finally! Despite all the time I spend on the computer writing for clients and posting blogs on my company’s website, making myself work on my own personal brand and doing things for ME is always such a hard task to tackle. But as all the social media ads keep reminding me, “New Year, New You!”
Y. O. U. YOU, aka ME is my theme for 2025. Who else is with me?! As a full-time working single mama to a 7-year old, it goes without saying that life is busy. And managing a household on one income can be extremely stressful! I too often let my stress get the better of me. For me, this means forgetting about me–being so worried about my son and our financial future that I forget to take time to prioritize myself. And in reality, if I could carve out a few extra moments of self care every day, my stress may dissipate and in turn I will be a better mama, partner, colleague an human!
But this is easier said than done. Why is it so challenging to make small changes? Just 15 minutes of stretching at lunch time or during your lunch break. Waking up every morning just 30 minutes earlier? Going to bed at night earlier? Meal prep, excersise, reading, maintaining relationships with friends, being present for my son, showing love to my partner, getting my personal creative energy out….Perhaps small changes are hard because there are SO MANY little things we want to work on. That makes sense to me.
I don’t have the answer yet, but I know trying to change too many small things at once doesn’t work. I need to pick just one. Today it starts with working on this website and getting words down on the blog. Words intended for me. A practice that hopefully will become a small, daily outlet for me. Some days I may not have much to say. It’s the practice that matters. And if I can help anyone else by making this public, even better.
Happy New Year to you and me, and cheers to small, meaningful changes. We can do this!
